FASHION VERDICT: FURLA CANDY S BAULETTO

Here's my take on FURLA'S CANDY S BAULETTO.

Summer 2011 marked the huge comeback of the Jelly fashion. Furla's candy bags and footwear brought the fun and style back in Jellies with their lust- worthy bags and whimsical footwear.

Ottonella Mocellin served as the bag's image model. Furla's candy baulettos became such a hit that it went OOS everywhere in the world right after a certain online shopping site/boutique replenishes their stocks (I should know, I've been hunting this bag down in different international shopping sites for a time!).

The no- nonsense bag is made of high quality PVC material. Furla eliminated excess designs, introduced it in eye popping colors, and gave free automatic locks to every bauletto purchase. Its utter simplicity made me fall for this bag real hard. It stands out on its own sans the scarves and flashy key chains.

One of the most sale- able colors is Dragon Fruit Pink. Thank goodness, Jameela Velasco made my dream come true. She decided to give her car a new look and sold this bag to me. She's heaven sent! I could never thank you enough. :D

Dragon Fruit is a hot fuschia color. It's quite see through, but not as much as the clear and yellow version of this bauletto.

Plastic has expanding properties. So if you prefer a spacious luggage, Furla's candy bag might be perfect for you. This is how the interior looks like if it's loaded with stuff. Take note that I bring big pouches and wallets with me everyday. And everything went inside the bag easily, without having to worry where to place each item. I used my Lumix LX3 to take a pic of the bag. And the LX3 fits perfectly right in it, plus more space to spare. To give you a concrete idea of how big this bag is, it's almost as big as LV's Speedy 30, but at a more affordable cost.

Stitches are excellent, and on its own, the bag looks and feels sturdy. However, the plastic PVC might be heavy to those who prefer bringing lightweight bags. You can still own this, but make sure that you bring less and lightweight stuff because the material is quite thick, which can add to its overall weight.

Let me present you a summary of the PROS and CONS of this bag:

PROS
- Spacious
- Stylish
- Unique
- Gives you the bang for your buck
- Easy to clean
- Rain- proof
- Safety feature (has an automatic lock)

CONS
- Price (if you get it from another country, it's cheaper as compared to our prices here)
- Weight (can be a bit heavy if you put too much stuff in it)
- Can warp or melt if placed on hot surfaces or near fire (well, knowing that it's plastic, I suppose we all know that it reacts negatively to anything that conducts heat!)
**Nothing follows

Here's a friend of mine, Erick, posing and having fun in front of the camera with my Furla Candy Bag. It looks gorgeous in the pics (and you too my dear mela :D)!

THE LACOSTE PIQUE HEADBAND

I've always wanted a nice headband. I have been window shopping for these, and forever dreaming of wearing these on my head one day:

A Burberry bow headband.

Or this chic headband from Salvatore Ferragamo that reminds me of the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn.

These headbands are expensive. And even if I have the money, I think I couldn't blow thousands of pesos in one transaction on a basic accessory.

Thank heavens for Lacoste's pique knot headbands.

I did not settle for an affordable headband just because I couldn't afford the former. These lovely pique headbands have definitely caught my eye. They give a nice pop of color on you overall outfit, and are quite striking in its simplicity.

The headbands come in two styles: pique knotted and the basic pique, which is a thicker version of this one, but sans the bow.

It comes with a detached tag that you can keep for authenticity's sake, just in case you get tired of the color and decide to sell it to get a new one.

Very eye- catching, indeed. :D

You can wear the headband in two ways. If you're feeling a bit girly, wear it with the bow. The bow slides off sideways so you're only wearing the band on days when you want it neat it simple.

Overall, the headband looks simple even if I got it in a screaming neon color. It's a refreshing addition to my overall style. Hubby said that I look very feminine and young whenever I am wearing this, especially when I'm in a dress or a frilly top.

I've always wanted to channel Blair Waldorf's headband style. But I find the chunky bows weird for my taste. Although I admit that they're nice to look at on T.V. and on her. But when the big bow headbands are already on my head, I already find them weird. I guess fancy dressing is not my cup of tea, though I appreciate it. Now I can channel Blair Waldorf with my pique knotted headband. It's a wee bit of Waldorf's style, but in a design that perfectly suits my taste.

**Lacoste pique knotted headbands are at 899php. For more colors, please visit http://cutiesta2008.multiply.com (A US goods site where I purchased my headband)

HAUL+REVIEW: PARIS HILTON PURSES

After enjoying her success in the perfume industry, Paris Hilton ventures once again into another opportunity: Paris Hilton Purses. Her bags and accessories line is carried and released by Retouch Brands.

According to the website, the styles are inspired by her daily looks and personal taste: Sexy, fun, flirty, sweet, glamorous, and exquisite.

I received two pleasant surprises from my mother when she got back from her Malaysia trip.

I saw the Paris Hilton store at the Newport Mall, Resorts World. Her bags reminds me of Lulu, but at a much expensive cost.

As I've said, her bags are inspired by her personal taste and style. I didn't know that this singlehood- lovin' and man- hopping heiress dreams of becoming a mummy one day, which explains why this bag looks like a diaper bag.

It is made of the material similar to the ones used to make Le Sportsac bags. This zippered tote is quite roomy, which makes it a perfect shopping bag. On days where I have to bring my dslr, books and notebooks, this one will be the perfect go- to bag. And this bag is quite lightweight too!

This bag costs RM359 (approximately 5000+php). If we are talking about convenience, this bag is worth it. But for the price and style, I wouldn't splurge on one. I'd rather buy another Longchamp.

Moving forward. Mom also got me a wallet from the same brand.

I must say the box is cute. It also comes with a dust bag inside.

For sure, I am NOT liking the Paris Hilton initials embroidered all over the wallet. It would've been nice if it had cute drawings of hearts, tiaras, or even her chihuahua Tinkerbell on it. Talk about the inability to detach one's self from a personal creation, huh?

But at least, it's a roomy wallet. There's definitely room for my cards, coins, and bills. I also smell leather. Yes, it is made of real leather.

If you're a fan of the pink heiress, or if you simply find her stuff cool and cute, I suggest you buy anything from the brand. But honestly speaking, it ain't worth the moolah.

CURRENT/ELLIOT: THE RISING DENIM BRAND IN HOLLYWOOD

Here's a review for Current/Elliot jeans.

Emily Current and Meritt Elliot are both LA- based stylists. They have decided to create their own denim brand in 2008. They wanted to create a pair that will hug every curve in a woman's body, and a pair that will definitely show them off. Their love for vintage and relaxed styles have enabled them to create the currently a- lister brand, Current/Elliot.

Though still a newbie in the jeans industry, it is no doubt that Current/Elliot has risen to popularity like the speed of light since its inception. Blame it on their butter- soft jeans, perfect fit and unique vintage styles.

The brand I got is called The Skinny. This is what I exactly bought in the Philippines.

The Boyfriend jeans, which is the hottest trend among Hollywood people nowadays was first made by C/E. It has a relaxed yet sexy fit. And the casual and cool look has made the boyfriend jeans fashionable altogether.

Here are some C/E fanatics from Hollywood.

Katie Holmes is a fan of the brand. The first sighting of the Boyfriend Jeans was on her.

Jennifer Aniston in C/E's boyfriend jeans.

Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie Bradshaw, will always be fashionably updated. SJP is photographed by a paparazzi in her C/E boyfriend jeans while strutting down the streets of NY.

Rihanna in her The Skinny jeans by C/E. And yes, we have the exact same pair of jeans.

Current/Elliot's The Skinny's fit is divine. As you can see, it perfectly hugged my legs and showed off its form without looking too tight. My problem with some jeans is, some jeans start to curl on the knee to the bottom parts. And this one went on sleek and smooth.

The paint splatter added a nice detail on the jeans. I am a fan of Jackson Pollock and anything that reminds me of JP, I will buy. The Skinny is meant to sit low on the waist. So if you're not wearing the right underwear, this jeans can be a butt crack hazard.

At first wear, this pair can be a bit stiff. But while wearing it, the jeans starts to adapt to your body size, which makes it comfortable to wear later on. Just like 7 for all mankind.

The jeans clings on to your legs, whilst still providing comfort. It's not like those duct tape skinnies that are being sold in the market nowadays.

And the texture of the denim is indeed butter- soft to touch. It's as if the pair has been soaked in fabric conditioner for a long time and voila! Out comes a pair of jeans that feels like slacks.

The material of the jeans is also thin, which makes every pair a breathable one.

The rips and tears gave the jeans a vintage vibe. The tears are meant to be ripped further due to wear. But it doesn't affect the overall of the jeans. In fact, I think it makes it more unique and vintage! Although the cracking and popping threads make me shriek sometimes because it would feel too bad to destroy a $216 jeans, and there's no one to blame but yourself.

I would love to own another C/E pair. But I'd also love to try other brands as well. J Brand or Earnest Sewn is on my wish list. :)
