FASHION HAULS: LUCKY BRAND

I'm crazy over denim nowadays. Designer ones, so to speak.

Ever since I bought myself a pair of 7 jeans for all mankind and Adriano Goldschmied, I've been on the look out for more designer jeans. The cut, fit, and material are the things you shell out for when you buy a pair of designer jeans. And every single penny I've paid for is worth it.

I was thinking of getting new make- up, but jeans are at the top of my list. And as a Christmas gift for myself, I bought another pair of designer jeans from Lucky Brand Dungarees.

Lucky Brand Dungarees is an all- American brand that originated in Southern California. Long time friends Gene Montesano (one of the brains behind Bongo Jeans) and Barry Perlman have turned their love for vintage blue jeans into a successful business.

Lucky Brand Dungarees is inspired by good humor and love for vintage. Why good humor? Every pair of LBD has a patch stitched on the fly of the jeans with the phrase "Lucky You", which says a lot. Gene's idea was contested by some people, saying that it would be offending, rather than being funny. But it turned out that the "Lucky You" tag was one of the reasons behind the success of the brand.

LBD has been known for their excellent fit, classic cuts, and unique vintage washes.

Since its inception in the 90's LBD has become a famous American jeans retailer, which brought it to the designer jeans level. Some Hollywood fans are Ben Affleck, Halle Berry, Jessica Simpson, Audriana Patridge, Jennifer Garner, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Gwyneth Paltrow to name a few.

Here are some LBD fans in their LBD jeans.

Jessica Simpson

Jennifer Garner

Audriana Patridge

And here's my new baby. :)

I have to agree that indeed, this new pair looks vintage! I must say I love the wash!

The style I got is Lucky Legend in Lola Skinny.

Closer look.

Inner tag

The leg fit is fabulous. It's tight, but it still allows room for my legs to breathe. I also love the fit of the waistband. It doesn't give me a muffin top at all! And above everything else, it flatters my figure because it hugs my form just right.

In comparison to my 7FAM, the material of this pair is a bit stiff. (Well, 7FAM is known for their luxuriously soft denim and eye- popping price tag), but is flexible enough to allow my legs to move freely. Maybe a few washes will soften the material a bit. And lastly, in comparison to my AG, the fit of this one is more fluid, which means it adjusts to my legs. While AG's fit is set.

But the three jeans are great, nonetheless! I love my pairs! PROJECT J BRAND and A MATTER OF LIFE DENIM are next then I'll go hibernating from jeans hauling. :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE BEAUTY JUNKEE!

THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER

I was strolling along Shangri- La one day and a very familiar picture was hanging at the the window of Converse. It was the cat in the hat, which is a very popular cartoon figure. When I got to see the big picture, I realized that Converse is offering Dr. Seuss limited edition all star chuck taylors!

My heart thumped with joy and I barged through the store and went to the Dr. Seuss chuck taylor stand. I was seeing right in front of me something that I should own because I love Dr. Seuss so much! He's also one of my childhood comic heroes!

Theo Le Sieg, the brain behind Dr. Seuss left a wonderful legacy to children. His books and stories were inspired by the wandering and never- ending imaginations of a child. I've grown up up reading his stories. I've realized later on that his works are deeply moving and are bound to give you a wonderful lesson at the end of each story, though he said himself that the morale was unintentional. He never did like writing books for children with a morale in mind. According to him "There is an innate morale in every story".

Dr. Seuss is Theo Le Sieg.

FYI, Some people would pronounce his name as DR. SOOS. But the right pronunciation (since he is German by origin) is DR. SOICE (Like how you would pronounce voice). Alexander Liang, one of his collaborators wrote in Dartmouth Jack-O-Lantern said:

You’re wrong as the deuce
And you shouldn’t rejoice
If you’re calling him Seuss.
He pronounces it Soice.

I told hubby that I saw a fab pair of Dr. Seuss shoes and I sooo want to have one for Christmas. But due to budget constraints and overspending, I decided I can't afford to buy one right now. I can. But if I do, I'd go on a budget deficit (again).

Hubby told me that I should get it 'cos I really like it. But I told him I can't. He told me that I should because it is his Christmas gift for me. After reading that message, my heart jumped with joy and I cried while chowing down a bowl of Vietnamese Pho!

THIS IS ONE OF MY BEST CHRISTMAS GIFTS EVAAAHHH!!!! I LOVE YOU HUBBY! :)))

Let me show you my fab pair of Dr. Seuss chucks.

I WILL NOT THROW THE BOX AWAY! :)

Unfortunately, some of the better designs only have kid sizes (boo!). This is what I got. A high- cut black chucks inspired by his "IF I RAN THE ZOO" novel featuring Gerard McGrew (the blue- haired thing on the chucks).

A patch sewn on the tongue of the shoe.

Sewn at the back part of the tongue of the shoe.

Cool graphics printed inside! If I ran the zoo characters!

As always, Dr. Seuss words have always been celebrated by the young and the old. A line from the story is printed inside the sole.

IF YOU'RE A DR. SEUSS FAN, BE SURE TO GRAB ONE OF THESE LIMITED EDITION SNEAKS!

HAULS FOR THE WEEK

Haul time! :)

A new plain shirt from Topshop. When I lost weight, a majority of my clothes don't fit me anymore. So I'm revamping my closet big time. And I am going to maintain my weight because it is costly to revamp a closet!

And one lemming off of my list again! A new Nike dri- fit pants. I'm now excited to use this in my next work out sessions! :)

I waited for this strap for almost four weeks. And I'm glad it came out the way I pictured it to be. BUT--- I specifically asked for a pink colored strap. And they put it in a black one. Bleh. Not-so-good service. :p

Strip of my dream plays. :) One day, I'll get to perform in all of these plays! :)

FASHION HAUL: FOREVER21

Haul time!

I went to F21 to get myself some bras and undies. But as usual, I went home with some other stuff.

Finally! The nude bra that I longed to have! I also got myself a white one. Only for 285php ea! :)

A nice- fitting tee.

I think this is my first- ever yellow colored clothing. It looked nice and it flattered my skintone.

I was set with my purchases, then I saw this on one of the racks while I was on my way to the counter to pay. Dayum, it's so pretty, I had to get it even if I was way beyond my budget already.

SHOPPING. STOPS. NOW.

DENIM-ISM: JEANS FAUX PAS

Welcome to the second to the last entry of DENIM-ISM.

To err is human. It is an inevitable part of life. You pick the wrong ones before you finally get the right one. It is a confusing journey, but bliss and valuable lessons are the rewards in the end.

You would encounter a dozen or more of the wrong jeans for you before you get the right pair. They look so good on the racks, but when you pay for 'em and bring 'em home, you'll realize that they just look good on the racks, but not on you. It's comparable to finding a partner. Sometimes, they put their best foot forward at the start. And in the end, you'll also realize that their foot is better off on their face.

Here are some Jeans faux pas that we always encounter every time we go shopping for the perfect pair of jeans. And after reading the entry, keep everything in mind, and you're now set in finding the perfect jeans for you.

TORN

- Yes, these jeans are TORN. They're not ripped. In jeans terminology, ripped jeans means those with tattered and frilly designs. But TORN jeans like this is damn fugly, even if they're hella expensive. If you have bad taste, brands won't save you. So before splurgingfor a pair of TORN jeans, learn from Brandy's huge mistake.

A BAG-LOAD OF CRAP

- Baggy jeans can be pulled off. But Baggy jeans like these are so ugly, that even a super hot and popular rapper or hip- hop artist can't look good in these jeans! Baggy jeans makes you look fat, and much worse, you look like a fashion victim. Boyfriend jeans, which is becoming a trend nowadays for women are just slightly loose, which makes it perfect for a casual look. But oh please, NOT these jeans.

DUCT TAPES

- The skinny jeans have become a staple fashion piece for women. And as the years went by, they've gotten skinnier! I call 'em DUCT TAPES. Skinny jeans that are so tight, that you'll develop a blood clot just by wearing 'em! Some might like the fit, but let me tell you why you should steer clear of these jeans. Super tight jeans blocks ventilation, which is essential in keeping vaginal bacteria at bay. Secondly, it puts so much pressure on your abdomen and leg muscles. And lastly, it creates "Muffin tops", and it can make your cramps worse during your menstruation days. And oh, if you fart, it's easier to find out that you're the culprit behind the gas release because the fit is so tight, it compresses the air, making your fart echo like a trumpet. If you can endure the shame, then be my guest.

MUFFIN TOPS

- Muffin tops are hell ugly. It makes all your unwanted bulge out in all the wrong places. Super tight jeans result to this fashion fail. If you want to hide your size, then choose the right cuts.

FOLDED AND--- HUH?

- Jeans folding. That's a no- no. Unless you're supermodel tall, then you can do this. But if you're short or your height is average, steer clear from this practice. It makes your legs look short and weird. Case in point: Rachel Bilson. Everything was perfect from her head until her shirt. And when I laid my eyes on her jeans, I thought to myself that it would be better if the photo was cropped.

There you have it! Now that you know the common jeans faux pas, keep them in mind and you're on your way to buying the perfect pair even if it's cheap or expensive.
